Walking - The Perfect Exercise for You



If you want to be healthy, you need to exercise more. But you're not ready to grunt through an hour of pumping irons or any tiring exercises or you don't have 30 minutes of time to exercise, don't fret.

The perfect exercise for most of us may be just go for a walk. Yes, Walk. Walking briskly 10 minutes at a time and 3-4 times a day can provide many of the safe benefits that walking continuously for 30 minutes.

Walking is the safest things you can do, It's much easier than running and doesn't trigger side effects. You may not feel the difference and the benefits all at once, but over the long term, a regular walking routine can do good for you.

What are the reasons to walk?
1.) Heart. Walking is good for the heart. Anything that makes the blood flow faster through the heart helps keep the heart in shape. Regular walking also helps lower blood pressure that decreases the stress on the arteries and boosts up the amount of good cholesterol(HDL) in the blood.

2.) Bones. Walking not only strengthens the muscles, but also builds up the bones.

3.) Weight control. Your metabolism slows as you get older and the older you get, the harder it is to maintain your weight by restricting what you eat. Walking boosts your metabolism the rest of the day and also helps you lose fat but even if you don't lose weight, you're body will be in a healthier state.

4.) Depression. A quick walk helps clear out the blues, gives you more energy, stamina and gives you an opportunity to actively socialize with friends and family.Studies show that patients who started exercising were less likely to relapse than those who took antidepressants alone.

5.) Diabetes. Regular walking can postpone or possibly prevent the development of type 2 diabetes in overweight people who are having trouble metabolizing glucose.
